Discount Codes - "Apply After Item Count" vs. "Auto Apply"

Note:

  • Discount Codes can be created by a user with the Admin role only.

Purpose: To understand the difference between setting up a discount code to apply after a predefined item count vs. to automatically apply.

Apply After Item Count

  • Operator can set a quantity and then the discount code will apply after that item count

    • Ex: The operator sets the item count to 2. Everything from item 3 and on will get the discount (if eligible)

Auto Apply

  • Operator can set discount requirements and then the discount code will automatically apply to the cart

    • Ex: The operator sets the discount code to a specific program and user. The user add the specific program to their cart and the discount code will auto apply.

Best Practices & Notes

  • When a discount is auto applied, the total usage limit - if any- will be ignored

  • Only one automatic discount can be applied per cart

  • Product-specific discounts that are manually applied will override automatically applied product category discounts.

  • Auto applied discounts can NOT be paired with an entire order - they must be limited to either a program, category or product.
